Hands on Design | To say we have a nostalgia for workshop design would be an understatement. There was a time in our history when human beings had a connection to the objects they built. Those connections produced masterpieces such as the violins of Stadavarius. The quality of these instruments has yet to be reproduced by modern machinery. Tools have their uses but they must remain tools. The head and the hand can not be separated by a CNC program. Doing this damages creative thinking and our understanding of the materials we work with.
Restoring Relationships | Today's consumer market is treading dangerously close to a complete breakdown of the customer relationship. How often do you feel like you have had a personal buying experience? In large part, brands have replaced the people and how do you know if they really stand for what they say they do? Ferrochie is a brand too but here you get to meet "the man behind the curtain" and see if he measures up. We want to work directly with our customers.
Ethical Practices | Another waining quality in today's marketplace is business ethics. Profit is not our primary motive. As with any money making enterprise you have to have profit to survive but at Ferrochie it will not come at the cost of ethics. We see a business that operates on the original principles of providing people with a living doing something they love. Humans are not simply resources. They are the reason business exists. An unhealthy focus on profit is the reason people have become secondary in most institutions. Times are hard in this new economy but people must remain our focus. In addition, we will always be honest with out customers on where materials are sourced from. There will be no white lies, misleading information or uncheckable facts about sustainable resources. |
